CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi soccer team plays its penultimate home game of the season over the weekend, welcoming in-state conference foe Stephen F. Austin to town on Sunday at noon.
In their most recent match, the Islanders (3-7-4, 1-3-2 SLC) were taken down on the road, falling to Northwestern State in Natchitoches by a final score of 2-0. This ended what had been a two-game points streak for them, as they had managed to take down Lamar and draw with East Texas A&M the week before, with both of those matches coming at the Dr. Jack Dugan Family Soccer and Track Stadium. The team has upped its game in front of the home crowd throughout the year, playing to a record of 2-2-3 in Corpus Christi to follow up their program-best 6-3-4 mark from 2024.
The next challenge for A&M-Corpus Christi now stands in the form of the Lumberjacks (4-3-8, 2-1-3 SLC), who currently sit in third place in the Southland Conference standings after suffering a loss in their most recent match against East Texas A&M on Thursday. The Islanders dropped the most recent meeting between the two in Nacogdoches last year, but they did manage to win the last matchup in Corpus Christi, which came in the form of a 2-1 triumph back on March 19, 2021.

Daniel Clitnovici said. "SFA is a top program, so we are looking forward to the challenge. We have found some momentum recently and feel if we execute the game plan correctly, things can work in our favor."
