Season comes to a close for Islanders at Southland Championships

Hammond, La. - The Texas A&M- Corpus Christi baseball team battled with the three seeded New Orleans Privateers in the first elimination round of the Southland Baseball Championship on Thursday.

Things got started early in the bottom of the first, as the Islanders put two runners in scoring position with one out. Chance Reisdorph drove in his 34th and 35th RBI's on the season with a triple to make it 2-0.

Christian Smith-Johnson right after, drove in Reisdorph with an RBI single, his 24th of the season for a 3-0 A&M-Corpus Christi advantage.

In the bottom of the third, bases were loaded for Logan Vaughan who showed strong patience to walk in a run and grow the lead to 4-1.

Junior Dylan Hill started for the Islanders throwing the first three innings while only giving up one run and striking out five. Senior Maddox Thorton came in relief and got through four innings of his own with one run given up.

New Orleans inched their way back to make it 4-2 with an RBI single in the 4th by Issac Willimas. Things got rough in the eighth when the Privateers plated four runs and then added one more insurance run in the ninth to grow their lead to what ended up being the final score of 7-4.

Isaac Webb had a show out day in the field at second base. Below is one of his multiple gold glove worthy efforts.

Chance Reisdorph led the Islanders on the day for the offensive side with two hits and two RBI's.

Three main stays in the lineup finish with batting averages above .300 for the season in Issac Webb (.339), Sebastian Trinidad (.320), and Cole Modgling (.333).

With this loss it ends the Texas A&M- Corpus Christi baseball season with a (22-35) overall record and (10-14) in the Southland Conference.
