CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi volleyball team will play a split week of conference play, hosting UTRGV Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the Dugan Wellness Center before heading out to UIW for a 12 p.m. Saturday matchup in San Antonio.
It will be the second time the Islanders (13-8, 8-2 SLC) take on UTRGV (12-8, 8-2 SLC) this year, with the two currently tied for third in the conference standings. While the matchup will play into divvying up the standings, it will also be the second meeting in the South Texas Showdown, presented by Rally Credit Union, an annual rivalry between the two institutions.
The Islanders defeated the Vaqueros 3-2 earlier this year in Edinburg. It will be the first of two meetings between A&M-Corpus Christi and UIW (12-7, 5-4 SLC) this season who won't face each other again until in the regular season finale on Nov. 16 in Corpus Christi.
