CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Getting to play in front of its home crowd for the first time this season, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi volleyball team will play three home matches in the Islanders Classic, presented by Schlotzsky's, Thursday through Saturday at the Dugan Wellness Center.
The home opener is set for 6:30 p.m. on Thursday when the Islanders (4-2) take on Prairie View A&M (3-4). Friday will feature a matchup between A&M-Corpus Christi and Weber State (3-3) at 5 p.m. The Islanders will close out the weekend against UTRGV (4-3) Saturday at 6:30 p.m. for game two of the South Texas Showdown, presented by Rally Credit Union.
All of A&M-Corpus Christi's matches will be streamed live on ESPN+.
"We are really excited to be able to play in front of our student section, the Deep End, and the whole Corpus Christi community that comes out to support our Islanders," said head coach
Steve Greene. "There will be some great matches amongst very strong teams this weekend."
The Islanders will look to get back on track, having a four-match winning streak snapped on Tuesday at UTRGV. Despite the loss, the Islanders turned in a .259 hitting performance compared to UTRGV's .228. A&M-Corpus Christi also out blocked the Vaqueros 7-4 and registered twice as many aces at the service line.

Zoria Heard in aces (3). Payne also registered her third double-double of the season with 10 digs. She is averaging a team-high 3.33 kills/set and totals 77.5 points on the year.

Tori Arrington and junior
Leah Stolfus are both averaging above a .350 hitting percentage with a .364 and .356, respectively. White leads the backrow defense with 77 digs for a 3.50 per set mark. At the net, Morgan turns in a team-high eight blocks in addition to dishing out 160 assists.
A&M-Corpus Christi leads Prairie View 17-3 and UTRGV 27-24 in the all-time records. It will be only the second ever time that the Islanders and Weber State face off and first since 2006.
"Our team has improved significantly since the season began. I'm really proud of how well we are all communicating and the level that our women are competing at right now," said Greene.
