CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Making final touches to its 2023 roster, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi volleyball program brought in two more transfers to join the team for the fall, announced by head coach Steve Greene Wednesday.
The signees are Morgan Smith and Belle Morgan.
Smith will complete her graduate year on the Island after spending three seasons at Louisiana Tech University. The Houston, Texas native started in 27 matches for the Lady Techsters in the 2022 season. The six-foot middle blocker led the team in blocks at 73 and attack percentage with a .279 mark. In total, Smith recorded 113 kills for 1.27 per set. In addition to her on-court success, she was also named to the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll for her academic achievements.
In high school, Smith was a two-time District Blocker of the Year and All-State Second-Team selection. She was All-District First-Team in 2019 and 2020 and helped her team to District titles in both 2017 and 2019.
"Morgan has been starting as middle at Louisiana Tech and her statistical output speaks for itself. She is very driven and has a quiet competitive demeanor that stands out to anyone that gets to know her. She has high aspirations and wants to help push herself and our program to be our best," said Greene.

Morgan will join the Islanders as a graduate transfer after playing four seasons at Villanova. The 6'1" setter from Fort Mitchell, Kentucky helped lead her team to the Big East Tournament in 2019 and was a Big East All-Academic selection all four years. In 2021, she finished third in the conference with 8.98 assists per set. During her senior year, she turned in 428 assists, 47 kills, 72 digs, and 23 blocks. Throughout her career at Villanova, Morgan recorded 1,570 assists in addition to 269 digs, 78 blocks, and 39 service aces.
In high school, Morgan was a four-year letterwinner where she helped her team make two State appearances. She was a part of the squad which won District all four years and was even named to the District All-Tournament team in 2018. Also in 2018, Morgan earned a spot on the All-State First Team.
"Belle has been a starting setter at Villanova the past few years and has a very bright mind for the game. During the recruiting process, it was instantly obvious that she is passionate about volleyball and wants to see how good her and her team can be," Greene said.

"We are excited to be able to have high level experience from both of these amazing women and help them pursue their graduate degrees and prepare for their futures," said Greene.
