ABILENE, Texas - Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's baseball team (13-15) fell to Nebraska (15-8-1) 12-1 in eight innings Saturday afternoon at Crutcher Scott Field, a neutral site venue for each team.
Jake Johnson, a junior, plated the lone run for the Islanders in the bottom of the sixth inning off of an RBI single from senior
Brendan Ryan, his second hit of the day.

Colin Purcell started for A&M-Corpus Christi on the mound, throwing through 3.2 innings, striking out four batters before reliever
Marco Gutierrez, a sophomore, entered the game in relief. He went on for 1.1 innings, facing eight batters before exiting the game.

Samuel Feltz was given the nod in the sixth inning, pitching into the seventh when freshman
James Trimble made the next appearance.
Kody Gibbs, also a freshman, closed out the game for the blue and green, collecting the final out of the game.
The Islanders' leadoff hitters collected a .375 average on the day, hitting 3-8 behind the plate. As a unit, the team collectively earned five hits, two accredited to Ryan with
Jake Johnson duplicatin the feat and junior
Tre Jones with one.
Both of Johnson's hits were doubles on the day with Ryan earning one as well. The team saw two walks in the performance.
A&M-Corpus Christi is scheduled to play Abilene Christian in a rematch Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. at Crutcher Scott Field.
