SAN ANTONIO – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's tennis program submitted a pair of 4-0 victories over Our Lady of the Lake on Wednesday at the Blossom Tennis Center.
The men improved to 11-6 overall on the year including 5-4 in road matches.
Junior
Avery Zavala turned in a perfect 3-0 day as the teams skipped over doubles in the first match. Zavala won two 6-1, 6-1 matches at No. 1 singles and teamed with senior
Pascal Lorieul for a flawless 6-0 victory at No. 1 doubles in the second match.
Lorieul registered a 6-2, 6-1 win in the first match as well as senior
Nathan Schwartz and freshman
Tomas Quesada Perez.
After Zavala and Lorieul won their doubles match in the second go-around, Perez and senior
Matthieu Peres clinched it 6-3 on court three.
A&M-Corpus Christi finished it off with wins of 6-1, 6-0 by Schwartz and 6-1, 5-1 (retired) by Peres in singles. The Islanders are now 53-23 in singles as a team on the year.
The men will be in action again Saturday when they host UT Arlington at 12 p.m. at the Thomas J. Henry Tennis Center. Prior to that, the women will open conference play Friday when they battle Southeastern at 1 p.m. at home.
