Houston Gets Past A&M-Corpus Christi Women’s Tennis

HOUSTON – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's tennis program put forth a valiant effort but ended on the short end of a 4-1 outcome against Houston on Saturday at the Barbara Wallace Winston Tennis Facility.
 
The Islanders are now 11-2 overall on the season.
 
A&M-Corpus Christi picked up a victory at No. 5 singles. Junior Valeria Cherfus won in straight sets 6-0, 6-4 to improve to 8-2 on the year.
 
At No. 1 singles, junior Emma Aucagne dropped the first set 6-1 but was leading 5-2 in the second. She remains 8-0 on the season as well as junior Kateryna Rublevska who didn't get to finish at No. 6.
 
Women's tennis will be back in action Monday when they face Our Lady of the Lake in a doubleheader beginning at 9 a.m. in San Antonio.
