COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Sophomores
Kyndal Payne and
Leah Stolfus of the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi volleyball team have been chosen to attend the U.S. Women's National Team Open Program at the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs this weekend.
The program is scheduled for Feb. 24-26 at the Olympic and Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs and is open to current and recently graduated college-age athletes born in the years 1998-2004.
Payne, an AVCA All-America Honorable Mention, was the 2022 Southland Conference Player of the Year and Hitter of the Year. Stolfus was honored as an All-Conference First-Team selection.
It is the second year in a row that the Islanders had two athletes invited, after
Faith Panhans and
Carissa Barnes were selected last year.
The WNT Open Program is used for consideration for selection to both the U.S. Women's National Team and the U.S. Women's Collegiate National Team. In 2023, members of the U.S. Women's National Team will compete in the following events: Volleyball Nations League, Paris Olympic Qualifier, Pan American Cup and NORCECA Continental Championship.
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi will be the only team represented from the Southland Conference.
