Morgan Wins Fourth SLC Setter of the Week Award

October 16, 2023

FRISCO, Texas – For the fourth time this season, graduate Belle Morgan of the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi volleyball team was named the Southland Conference Setter of the Week, announced by the league office Monday.

Morgan is the only player in the league to have four-peated a weekly award this year. It marks the seventh weekly accolade this season for A&M-Corpus Christi.

She ran the offense to an astounding .403 efficiency between the wins over New Orleans and Nicholls to close out the top half of the conference slate on a seven-match winning streak. It included a .506 team performance against the Privateers to break the all-time program record for highest hitting percentage in a match. The .506 is the highest mark by any Southland team this season.

She averaged 10.50 assists per set on the week after continuing her individual streak of being the match-leader in assists in every conference match this year. In addition, she dropped in four service aces in each match as well as recording six kills against New Orleans at a .856 individual clip while picking up seven digs in the sweep over Nicholls.

"Belle had another outstanding week leading out team to stellar offensive performances," said head coach Steve Greene. "As our setter, she orchestrated the most efficient attacking match in our program's history as we hit .506! Her continuous improvement week in and week out is key to her success and that of our team."

The Islanders will begin the second half of the conference slate only half a game back in the league standings. They will look to continue their hot streak back on the road where they are undefeated in SLC play, heading to rematch McNeese on Thursday and Lamar on Saturday.
