NATCHITOCHES, La. - The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi baseball team fell to the Demons 1-0 in the tenth inning at Brown-Stroud Field.
"[Sophomore]
Jaime Ramirez Jr. did everything he could," said head coach
Scott Malone. "The injuries finally caught up with us, not having three of our top four hitters. We're not going to let this weekend define us. We're going to turn the page."
Ramirez Jr. pitched exceptionally in his first start on the mound this season, going 9.0 innings in the performance. He allowed only four hits the entire game on 102 pitches and collected six strikeouts. Senior
Leo Perez made his appearance on the mound in the tenth inning, marking the ninth game he's played in.
Four Islanders earned hits on the day as senior
Steven Rivera-Chijin and sophomores
Tucker McEnroe,
Max Puls and
Nate White each earned hits as well. Rivera-Chijin and White each hit a double, coming in the first and second innings, respectively.
Sophomore
Josh Caraway earned his second stolen base of the year, doing it in the top of the sixth inning after being walked in the at-bat before.
A&M-Corpus Christi faces the Hooks Wednesday at 6:35 p.m. in an exhibition game before taking off to Hammond, La. for a three-game series April 8-10.
