HAMMOND, La. – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi baseball program fell to Southeastern 7-3 in the final game of the series at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field.
"It was a disappointing last two days," said head coach
Scott Malone. "We are on a rough run through conference play and we need to right the ship. With the Aggies and HBU up next, we need to get back to work and get batter on the field."
The Islanders put their first run on the board in the fifth inning when
Tyler Linneweber, a sophomore, scored on a fielding error by the right fielder. He had reached first with a single before later stealing second.
Tre Jones, another sophomore, scored the second run of the day with a solo home run out to left field. The hit marked his fifth home run of the year and third straight game with multiple hits.
Three Islanders had multiple hits on the day led by Jones with three out of five at-bats. Sophomores
Max Puls and Linneweber both earned two hits apiece.
Tucker McEnroe, another sophomore, earned a run on one hit as well.
Sophomore
Jaime Ramirez Jr. made his second start this season, going on to pitch 3.1 innings with one strikeout before senior
Leo Perez came in for relief. Perez pitched two innings, also earning a strikeout before sophomore
JT Moeller made his second appearance in as many nights during the sixth inning.
Moeller proved effective in his outing only allowing one hit and one unearned run in his outing in 1.2 innings. Senior
Henry Bird came out to start the eighth inning, striking out the first two batters he saw to close out the game for the Islanders.
A&M-Corpus Christi receives a day of travel before facing Texas A&M at Whataburger Field Tuesday at 6:35 p.m.
