A&M-Corpus Christi Drops Weekend Finale at Northwestern State

NATCHITOCHES, La. – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's tennis program ended on the short end of a 6-1 decision to Northwestern State on Sunday at the Jack Fisher Tennis Complex.
 
Sophomore Kateryna Rublevska turned in a 2-0 day for A&M-Corpus Christi (16-3, 2-1 SLC). She teamed with sophomore Leopoldine Boisseau to win 6-3 at No. 3 doubles.
 
In singles, Rublevska came back for a 3-6, 6-4, 10-6 in a third set super tiebreak for a victory over the Lady Demons (11-4, 4-0 SLC).
 
Another tight match that could have gone either way was at the No. 3 singles position. After dropping the first set 7-5, junior Camille Townsend battled back to win the second 4-6 but was edged in a nail-biter 12-10 in the super tiebreaker.
 
A&M-Corpus Christi will return home Friday when it hosts New Orleans at the Thomas J. Henry Tennis Center. The Islanders have won 21 consecutive home matches.
