HAMMOND, La. – Extending its winning-streak to nine, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's tennis program swept Southeastern 7-0 in a Southland Conference match on Friday at the SLU Tennis Complex.
A&M-Corpus Christi (16-2, 2-0 SLC) did not a drop a set on any court. The Islanders are on their longest winning-streak since 2017.
A&M-Corpus Christi improved to 77-18 in singles as a team this season and 38-9 in doubles.
"I thought our girls came with a lot of focus and heart today. This match was a lot closer than the final score and I thought Southeastern competed very hard and made it a battle. I'm proud of the way our girls stuck with their process when they felt adversity, proud of their commitment to play every point with intensity and proud of the way they fought and cheered each other today. There's a lot of excitement and good energy on this team and a real commitment to fight for each other with all our hearts," said head coach
Steve Moore.
The Islanders started it off with a 6-0 win at No. 3 doubles from sophomores
Leopoldine Boisseau and
Kateryna Rublevska. The team clinched the doubles point at the No. 2 position with a 6-3 victory from sophomores
