CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – On a cold day at the Thomas J. Henry Tennis Center, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's tennis program couldn't heat up the rackets in defeats to East Tennessee State 4-0 and Abilene Christian 4-2.
The matches were part of the 2022 H-E-B Tournament of Champions, presented by H-E-B. A&M-Corpus Christi is now 9-5 overall on the season and 4-2 at home.
The Islanders picked up a pair of wins in the second match of the day against ACU. At No. 3 singles, sophomore
Pascal Lorieul notched a straight-set 7-5, 7-5 victory. On the court next to him at No. 4, fellow sophomore
Nathan Schwartz notched a 6-3, 6-4 win.
It was the first-ever meeting against East Tennessee State. The Islanders are now 7-3 all-time against ACU.
A&M-Corpus Christi will conclude the H-E-B Tournament of Champions on Saturday against either DePaul or New Mexico State. The start time is to be announced.
