CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Going for season sweeps over UTRGV, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's and women's tennis programs will host the South Texas Showdown on Tuesday at the Thomas J. Henry Tennis Center, presented by NavyArmy Community Credit Union.

The men's match will begin at 12 p.m., followed by a 3 p.m. women's contest. The men won the first meeting this season 4-3 and the women 6-1.

The women have an 18-match home winning-streak on the line and the men have won six straight at home.

The South Texas Showdown, presented by Navy Army Community Credit Union, is an annual rivalry series in which A&M-Corpus Christi and UTRGV compete against each other in 12 sports. The Islanders lead the all-time series 4-1. This year, A&M-Corpus Christi is ahead 29-10 with each win counting as three points and one point being awarded for attendance for men's basketball, women's basketball, volleyball and baseball.

In the first matches this year, both the men (8-3) and the women (9-2) dropped the doubles point before rallying back in singles.

The men picked up three-set wins from sophomores
Nathan Schwartz and
Pascal Lorieul in the middle of the lineup to clinch. The women swept all six singles matches, including a dominating 6-0, 6-1 victory at the No. 1 spot from sophomore
Emma Aucagne. Sophomore
Leopoldine Boisseau pulled out a three-setter 4-6, 6-2, 6-1.

The women are 29-3 all-time against the Vaqueros and 23-1 under Coach Moore. A&M-Corpus Christi has won eight consecutive meetings. The men are 22-3 all-time against the Vaqueros with every meeting coming under Coach Moore, and they've won 18 straight in the series.

Looking ahead, the men will host the H-E-B Tournament of Champions over the weekend with DePaul, New Mexico State, Troy, UL-Lafayette, Abilene Christian, East Tennessee State and UTSA coming to town.
