Match Recap: Women's Tennis |

A&M-Corpus Christi Picks Up Wins at St. Thomas

HOUSTON – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's and women's tennis programs topped St. Thomas (TX) on Friday at Memorial Park Tennis Center. The men won 5-0 and 6-0, while the women won 7-0 and 5-0.

The women improved to 9-2 on the season and 5-2 on the road. The men are now 8-2 overall and 5-1 on the road.

"Today was a really good college tennis match. I thought we played really hard and with a real commitment to our process. I thought we improved some key things that are very important to our season. I have a lot of respect for St. Thomas, their coach Jack Brasington and the amazing job their athletic department did putting these matches on. Everything they did was first class and they made it a very special event for all the players on both teams," said head coach Steve Moore.

On the men's side, junior Ulysse Bertand and sophomores Borja Delgado, Guillermo Castaneda and Ernesto Mealla all went 2-0 in singles. For the women, 2-0 singles performances came from sophomores Emma Honore, Leopoldine Boisseau, Kateryna Rublevska and junior Jordan Ortega-Mendez.

Next up, the men will close out the weekend with an early 9 a.m. match at SMU on Sunday. Both teams will return home Tuesday when they host UTRGV in the South Texas Showdown, presented by NavyArmy Community Credit Union at the Thomas J. Henry Tennis Center with play beginning at noon.
