FRISCO, Texas – After becoming the ninth Islander in program history to surpass 1,000 career digs and helping Texas A&M-Corpus Christi to a split at the SFA tournament,
Carissa Barnes earned a Southland Defensive Player of the Week distinction Tuesday.
Barnes collected an impressive 35 digs in the Islanders win over Northern Arizona, following it up the next day by becoming the ninth Islander in program history to surpass 1,000 career digs with a 23-dig performance against SFA.
This is Barnes first defensive honor of the season and fourth overall.
Up next, A&M-Corpus Christi heads to Edinburg for a neutral-site match versus Texas Southern on Saturday at 11 a.m.
