SAN ANTONIO – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's tennis program will return to action this weekend when it competes in the UTSA Open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the UTSA Tennis Center and Brandeis High School.
The tournament will feature four singles and four doubles draws. It will include student-athletes from Abilene Christian, Arkansas, Rice, SMU, UIW, UL-Lafayette, UT Arlington, UTRGV and UTSA. Play will get underway at 8:30 a.m. each day.
"These Islanders have been working incredibly hard and are really excited for the UTSA tournament! This is a really good tournament and the UTSA coaches have done a great job putting this together! The competition will be very high and we're excited about that! Our guys are very motivated for the chance to compete every present point with intensity and play their process," said head coach

In their last outing, the men won three flights at the season-opening Contender CrossFit Islander Open. It included the doubles team of junior
Ulysse Bertrand/sophomore
Borja Delgado (Flight C), plus singles winners in sophomore
Nathan Schwartz (Flight B) and junior
Matthieu Peres (Flight C).
Expected to make their first singles appearances of the year are senior
Kyohei Yamanaka and sophomore
Pascal Lorieul. Yamanaka is a three-time All-Conference singles honoree, while Lorieul was the 2021 SLC Freshman of the Year and All-Conference First-Team singles selection.
