Undefeated Islanders Sweep Texas A&M-Kingsville 7-0

KINGSVILLE, Texas – Remaining unbeaten on the season, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's tennis program cruised to a 7-0 victory over Texas A&M-Kingsville on Wednesday at the Javelina Tennis Courts.

A&M-Corpus Christi improved to 8-0 on the year. The Islanders are now 41-1 in singles and 20-1 in doubles. The team has swept six consecutive opponents.

"I thought our girls were flat out tough today. On the road against a rival is always tough and our girls came out with great energy and determination today. I thought they were really committed to playing every point tough and smart. I thought our captains did a great job with their example in the singles and the team really followed. I think these girls are rapidly improving and have great character and commitment," said head coach Steve Moore.

The Islanders quickly won the doubles point with wins at the No. 2 and 3 positions. Freshmen Emma Honore and Emma Aucagne breezed to a 6-0 win, and freshmen Leopoldine Boisseau and Victorie Dellatre followed with a 6-1 victory. The teams played out No. 1 doubles and sophomores Camille Townsend and Mariya Shumeika finished on top 6-4.
