CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Stepping aside from conference play for a match, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's volleyball program will be hosting a White Out in the Dugan Wellness Center at 6:30 p.m. Monday against UTRGV in the South Texas Showdown, presented by NavyArmy Community Credit Union.
In addition to three points for winning the match, there's also an attendance point at stake. A&M-Corpus Christi (12-8, 8-1 SLC) will need to rally a crowd of over 688 to win the volleyball attendance over UTRGV (13-7, 5-2 WAC).
The South Texas Showdown, presented by Navy Army Community Credit Union, is an annual rivalry series in which A&M-Corpus Christi and UTRGV compete against each other in 12 sports. As an institution, the Islanders lead the all-time series 4-1 and are ahead 12-3 this year.
The Islanders will be going for the season sweep over the Vaqueros after winning in Edinburg 3-1 on Sept. 12. Senior

Kyndal Payne recorded 10 apiece.

UTRGV is in second-place in the WAC Southwest Division and is only a half match out of first behind Sam Houston. The Vaqueros have wins this year over UL-Lafayette, Appalachian State, East Carolina, Gardner-Webb, Lamar, Abilene Christian, Tarleton State, Sam Houston, Seattle, New Orleans and UIW.
The Islanders are 27-20 all-time against the Vaqueros and have won three straight.
