Islanders Senior Day: William Mottet

May 11, 2020

Our Senior Day series will highlight Islander senior student-athletes who participated in a 2020 spring sport and did not have the opportunity to experience their senior day ceremony. The student-athletes featured in this series have elected not to use the additional year of eligibility granted by the NCAA and will be pursuing further educational endeavors and/or beginning their professional lives. Please join us in recognizing this wonderful group of Islander seniors.

Islanders Tennis: William Mottet

In his own words:

From head coach Steve Moore:
"William had an amazing career. He played #1 singles on team that advanced to the NCAA Championships in 2019. He was captain of a team that reached #65 nationally in NCAA D-1. I'm not sure people realize how difficult that is and how much that takes. He won two Southland titles and was a 3.5 GPA student. I will always remember him for how much he loved the team and what a special relationship we had."

Career Snapshot:
- Four year member of the Islanders men's tennis program
- Member of the 2017 Southland regular season and 2019 Southland tournament championship teams
- Earned All-Southland Second Team as a sophomore and again as a junior in doubles
- Named Southland All-Academic Second Team during his junior and senior seasons.
- Played the majority of his past three seasons at the No. 1 singles position
- Competed at the ITA Oracle Championships in Malibu during the Fall 2019 season
