Beach volleyball splits opening day at Southland Showcase

- The Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi beach volleyball team split a pair of matches on Thursday at the 2019 Southland Showcase at the Digs Volleyball Complex in Covington, La.
- The Islanders opened the day with a 3-0 victory over Central Arkansas before falling to Houston Baptist, 3-2.
- Selina Marolf and Abigail DeVido won at No. 1 against Central Arkansas, as did the No. 4 pairing of Kylie Kvam and Brooke Adkisson.
- Fanny Ahman and Sam Dumity beat UCA's No. 5 tandem to help Texas A&M-Corpus Christi take the opening match.
- Against HBU, Rachel Young and Madison Green took their match at No. 2 and Emma Coudon and Lael Ceriani won at No. 3.
- The match against the Huskies came down to a third set at No. 4 as Kyle Kvam and Brooke Adkisson went up early, 1-0, But HBU would won the second and third sets to claim the match and give the Huskies the win, 3-2.
- The Islanders are now 10-14 on the season.
