Islanders falter in rematch with UTSA

Story Headlines
- The Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi baseball program fell in Tuesday evening's midweek matchup against UTSA, dropping a 16-4 contest to the Roadrunners at Chapman Field in Corpus Christi, Texas.
- UTSA jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back, adding a significant eight runs in the fifth frame to seal an eventual run-rule decision in the seventh.
- On the year, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi falls to 24-16 overall and 10-8 in league competition.

- The Islanders scored four runs on nine hits with one error while UTSA notched 16 runs on 19 hits with one error of their own.
- Enrique Sanchez Jr. posted two RBIs on a 1-of-3 performance at the plate, driving a single up the middle for the first and earning the second on a sacrifice fly.
- Itchy Burts, meanwhile, compiled the team's lone multi-hit showing, going 2-of-4 on the night.
- Cole Fluta picked up the Islanders' other RBI on a fourth-inning single down the right-field line, finishing 1-of-2 with one hit and one walk.

Islander Key Innings
- Nick Anderson and Steven Rivera-Chijin opened the second frame with back-to-back singles, setting up the former at third (Rivera-Chijin thrown out making an attempt at second). After Justin Taylor absorbed a hit-by-pitch to place runners at the corners, a UTSA balk scored the Islanders' first run of the game. Thomas Jeffries IV pushed Taylor over to third on a sacrifice hit, allowing Sanchez Jr. to close the gap to a 6-2 margin behind an RBI single up the middle.
- Following a Taylor one-out walk, Jeffries IV and Fluta generated some offense on back-to-back singles, scoring Taylor and setting up the former on third. Sanchez Jr. took advantage during the next at-bat, plating Jeffries IV on a sac fly to right field and cutting the lead down to just two runs, now 6-4.
