Bryant notches double-double as Islanders push past Incarnate Word

Story Headlines
- The Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi women's basketball program (12-9, 6-4 Southland) dispatched visiting Incarnate Word (2-19, 2-8 Southland) in Saturday afternoon's Homecoming game, prevailing over the Cardinals 57-49 on the Corpus Christi Athletic Club court at the American Bank Center.
- Junior Alexes Bryant earned her keep behind her second double-double performance of the season, leading the team with 15 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks. Fellow junior Emma Young also moved her way into double figures, dropping 11 points with five rebounds, two assists and one steal.

- After entering halftime with just a four-point lead, the Islanders composed a resilient third quarter, shooting 53.8 percent overall (7-of-13) and doubling their lead to eight.
- For the game, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi closed out the competition shooting 38.2 percent (21-of-55) from the floor, 16.7 percent (2-of-12) at the three point line and 72.2 percent (13-of-18) at the charity stripe.
- Beyond Bryant and Young, multiple other Islanders compiled strong performances on the day, including junior Dalesia Booth's near double-double of her own with nine points and eight rebounds. Fellow juniors Tiara Matthews and Dae Dae Evans also notched major contributions, as the former posted nine points with three rebounds and the latter dropped seven points while grabbing eight rebounds and three steals.
- While Bryant's three blocks failed to tie her career-high (four), the junior center managed to climb two rungs on the single-season record book in the category, jumping into a tie for sixth with 40 already this year. Similarly, two other Islanders made their move in the career record book: Young's pair of assists shifted her into a tie for eighth (187) while Evans grabbed sole possession of 10th behind her three steals.
