- The Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi women's basketball team defeated UTRGV, 59-54, Thursday night in the second and final game of the South Texas Showdown at the UTRGV Fieldhouse in Edinburg, Texas.
- Texas A&M-Corpus Christi improves to 6-3 overall, while the Vaqueros fall to 5-4. 
- The Islanders won the earlier meeting, 61-50, in Corpus Christi back on Nov. 23, to sweep the series and secure six points in the standings. The blue and green sweep the regular season series for the first time since the South Texas Showdown began in 2016. 
- A&M-Corpus Christi is now 4-1 against UTRGV in their last five games.
- The starters for Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in tonight's game included; Giana Wright, Alexes Bryant, Dae Dae Evans, Dalesia Booth and Tiara Matthews. 

Key Islander Statistics
- Emma Young led the Islander offense with 15 points, while Booth added 13 and Matthews scored 10. Young also led the team with four assists. 
- Collectively, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi shot 45.8-percent from the field, while holding UTRGV to just 35-percent. 
- Bryant added nine points and also pulled down seven rebounds. Booth and Matthews followed with six rebounds, while Young and Evans grabbed five. 
- For the seventh straight game, the Islanders won the battle of the boards, out rebounding the Vaqueros 40-36.

- Booth reached double figures for the seventh time this season. Her four field goals made against the Vaqueros also propel her to the No. 5 spot all-time in career field goals made with 399. 
- Young grabbed five rebounds on the evening, placing her No. 9 all-time in career rebounds with 549.
