Volleyball takes down Bearkats on Pack it Pink night

Story Headlines
- The Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi volleyball team knocked off Sam Houston State, 3-1, at the Dugan Wellness Center on Thursday evening.
- The Islanders handed the Bearkats their first Southland loss of the season with a season-high 63 kills and 61 assists.
- Texas A&M-Corpus Christi is now 11-9 overall and 4-3 in Southland play. SHSU falls to 10-9 overall and are now 6-1 in conference action.
- Chloe Simon tied a career-high with 16 kills, hitting .364 on the evening. She made it a double-double performance with 10 digs defensively to go along with two blocks and four assists.
- The Islanders wore pink jerseys in support of breast cancer awareness as part of the annual Pack it Pink night.

Key Islander Statistics
- The Islanders hit .293 for the match while holding the Bearkats to a .254 attack percentage.
- In the first, SHSU was held to just 10 kills, hitting .138 while A&M-Corpus Christi put away 16 kills.
- The Islanders hit .421 in the fourth and final set with 18 kills and just two attacking errors.
- Madison Green recorded 38 assists with 12 kills, five digs and a block.
- Rachel Young hit .500 with 12 kills, two blocks, two digs and just one attacking error.
- Carissa Barnes had 24 digs (6.00 dps), with four assists.
- Angel Felan added eight digs with a service ace and an assist.
- Kylie Filipiak did not record an attacking error on the evening finishing with 10 kills while hitting .476. She had three digs, two blocks and an assist.
