HOUSTON, Texas -- The Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi track & field program wraps up the month of January with another road trip, this time to Houston, Texas, for the Houston Invitational, set for the days of Friday, Jan. 25 and Saturday, Jan. 26 at Yeoman Fieldhouse. While the majority of the team competes at the University of Houston, four multi-event athletes will make the trip to Lubbock, Texas, for the Texas Tech Classic with competition scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 24 and Friday, Jan. 25.
In last week's meet at Texas Tech, sophomore
Valentina Campos impressed in the women's 3,000m race, notching a first-place finish behind a 10:23.98 final time. Other strong performers included: freshman
Daniel Armstrong's fifth-place finish in the 60m hurdles (8.04s); junior
Terrion Spivey's 10th-place finish in the 400m (49.08s); junior
Colton Cohea's ninth-place leap in the pole vault (4.75m); senior
Benjamin Clark's seventh-place finish in shot put (15.96m);
Aaron Rosales' 10th-place toss in the weight throw (14.17m); senior
Sashane Hanson's second-place leap in the high jump (1.75m); and freshman Kennedy Bontrager's ninth-place throw in shot put (12.25m).
Following the Houston road trip, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi receives a weekend off before opening the month of February with another trip to Lubbock, Texas, for the Texas Tech Shootout, scheduled for the days of Friday, Feb. 8 and Saturday, Feb. 9.
