Track & Field Competes at Texas Relays, Bobcat Invitational This Week

AUSTIN, Texas – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi track & field team pulls double duty in its return to action this week, splitting its roster between the 98th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin and the Bobcat Invitational, hosted by Texas State, from Thursday to Saturday.

The Islanders will begin the week at both meets tomorrow, starting first at 9 a.m. in San Marcos with the women's discus and then in Austin at 11 a.m. in the women's hammer throw. They then return on Friday at 9 and 10 a.m. before then ending the week in the finales on Saturday at 10 a.m. and 10:20 a.m.

The two meets represent the first big test for A&M-Corpus Christi during the 2026 outdoor season, with the Texas Relays serving as one of the premier events on the calendar for collegiate track & field and the Bobcat Invitational providing another setting against some tough competition both in and out of the Lone Star State. The Islanders head into the week having most recently competed at the UTSA Invitational on March 21 and 22, seeing some impressive showings from the throws group to highlight was a solid opener to the second portion of the season. Most notably, the javelin duo of Jordan Bowling and Chase Hight made their way to third and fourth all-time in program history in the event respectively, while both junior Emmanuel Ekuma and freshman Samson Black both posted top five marks in the Southland Conference in the discus, the hammer throw and the shot put.

"This is a big weekend for us," Islanders head coach Bryan Jackson said. "This weekend will give us a really good early season look at where we are at. It's still early, and we have a lot of work to do, but I feel really good about where we are at right now. I am expecting some really good results."

The live results for both meets will be available to follow along as they happen. The last two days of the Texas Relays can also be watched live on ESPN+.
