Beach volleyball announces 2019 schedule

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi head beach volleyball coach Gayle Stammer has announced the Islanders' 2019 schedule. The slate includes eight home matches beginning on Thursday, Feb. 28.

The season begins on Thursday, Feb. 28 with home matches against Texas A&M-Kingsville (9 a.m.) and San Jose State (1 p.m.). After that, the Islanders will host Louisiana Monroe for a doubleheader on Monday, March 4 with match times at 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi will play four matches in Gulf Shores, Ala., starting on Friday, March 8. The Islanders will face Austin Peay on Friday at 11 a.m. On Saturday, the team will face UAB at 11 a.m. and New Orleans at 2 p.m. The tournament concludes at 8 a.m. on Sunday against Spring Hill College.

Beginning on Friday, March 15, A&M-Corpus Christi will host the Islander Beach Volleyball Classic, presented by the Emerald Beach Hotel. Friday's matchups include a 9 a.m. contest against Houston Baptist and a 1 p.m. match against North Carolina-Wilmington. On Saturday, the Islanders will face TCU at 9 a.m. and UNC-Wilmington at 1 p.m. in the final home match of the season.

The rest of the road slate includes the TCU Tournament on March 23-24 against TCU, Central Arkansas and Cal Poly. The HBU Tournament starts on March 29 and will feature matches against Louisiana Monroe, Houston Baptist, New Mexico and Abilene Christian.

The team will return to Fort Worth, Texas, for a third contest against TCU starting on April 12. A&M-Corpus Christi will also face Florida State and UAB.

New Orleans will host the Southland Conference Showcase starting on April 18. The Islanders take on Central Arkansas, Houston Baptist and New Orleans on Thursday followed by matches against Nicholls State and Abilene Christian on Friday. Saturday's matches will take the winners from each respective flight.
