Malone selected as voter for USA Today NCAA Coaches Poll

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas -- Thursday morning, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi head baseball coach Scott Malone accepted membership on the USA Today Coaches Poll panel, a group of 31 Division I collegiate baseball coaches who vote weekly on the nation's Top 25 programs. Malone will represent both Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and the Southland Conference on the panel, voting weekly beginning March 4 through the conclusion of the season. The results of the preseason poll will be announced in late January.

"I was honored to receive a recommendation from the American Baseball Coaches Association to represent Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and the Southland Conference on the USA Today Coaches Poll panel this season," Malone said of the appointment. "It is a great honor to be a part of the weekly vote as well as having an opportunity to shape the national discussion. The Southland Conference is one of the top baseball conferences in the NCAA, and it will be a privilege to represent our league on the national stage."

The Islanders open the 2019 season on Feb. 15, 2019, hosting UT-Arlington in the first of the four-game series, before proceeding to Southland Conference play a just under a month later on March 8, traveling to San Antonio to face Incarnate Word.
