SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi golf team defeated UTRGV, 3-2, in match play on Friday at Brackenridge Park Golf Course in San Antonio, Texas. The Islanders received three points in the
South Texas Showdown presented by NavyArmy Community Credit Union. The two teams will meet again during the spring season.
"I was really pleased with the win," said head coach
Joni Stephens. "We started out a little slow, I think we were tired from the tournament earlier in the week. But the girls hung in there and rallied on the back side. I love the competitive fire we have on this team. They fight until the very end and I am very proud of them."
The Islanders got points from
Brooklyn Sutton who won her match 2-up.
Autumn Bynum won 3/2 and
Dani Bergmann won her matchup, 4/2.
