CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - The Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi golf team will take on UT-Rio Grande Valley in a match play format competition on Friday afternoon at the Brackenridge Park Golf Course in San Antonio, Texas. The match will begin at 1:30 p.m. and will pair each team's top five individuals against one another in a best of five scoring system. The winner of this match will receive three points in the
South Texas Showdown presented by NavyArmy Community Credit Union.
In the fall opener earlier this week, the Islanders improved their placing each day, finishing the three-round Cardinal Classic in a tie for fifth place. The team's 908 score was tied for the sixth-lowest 54-hole mark in program history. Newcomer
Kellsey Sample finished in a tie for 15th individually, firing a 225. The tournament, which fielded 16 teams and 87 individuals, was held at the Players Club in Yorktown, Ind., and was hosted by Ball State.
Up next, the Islanders will play in the Sam Houston State Bearkat Women's Invitational starting on Monday, Oct. 1, in Magnolia, Texas.
