Islanders close out non-conference slate in Missouri

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi volleyball team heads to Columbia, Mo., to compete in the Mizzou Tournament this weekend. The Islanders face SEC member Missouri, Missouri Valley member Drake and MAC member Ohio University.

- This will be the final non-conference weekend of the season for the Islanders.
- Both Missouri and Ohio will take on Texas A&M-Corpus Christi for the first time.
- The Drake Bulldogs beat the Islanders back in 2009, 3-0.
- Missouri is the third SEC team to host a tournament this season. The team has played at South Carolina and LSU already this year.
- This is the first matchup against a Missouri Valley or MAC program this season.
- A&M-Corpus Christi is in search of its first victory away from home.
- In the Islanders' victory over Texas Southern last weekend, the team tallied up 49 kills, the most among any Southland school this season in a three-set match.
- The five-set match against South Florida saw A&M-Corpus Christi record 88 total digs, the third highest mark in the conference this season.
- Rachel Young currently ranks third in the conference with a .321 attack percentage. The freshman middle blocker has reached double-figures in kills in three of the last four matches and has hit over .400 three times in that stretch.
- Jenna Krenek is seventh in conference at 3.72 digs per set. She has been in double-figures in digs in five straight matches and six of her last seven.
- Madison Green recorded the conference's first triple-double of the year, notching 33 assists, 12 digs and 10 kills in a five-set loss to South Florida on Aug. 31 at LSU.
- Green has been named to the South Carolina and Islander All-Invitational teams this season. Sam Dumity earned All-Islander Invitational accolades as well.
- The Islanders added two junior college transfers in Eloise van Velthooven (Parkland College) and Kayla Valigura (Blinn College).
- New assistant coach Alexis Crimes was an alternate for Team USA at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. She played collegiately at Long Beach State.
- Green, Young, Chloe Simon and Krenek each played for the beach volleyball team in the spring of 2018.
- This is the 19th season of Islander Volleyball. The program began back in 2000.
- The roster features 10 players from Texas. Other states/countries represented include Indiana, California, New York, New Zealand and Israel.
