South Texas Showdown presented by NavyArmy Credit Union. Match time is scheduled for 7 p.m.

- This will be the 42nd all-time meeting between the Islanders and UTRGV.
- Tuesday's match is the second part of the South Texas Showdown presented by NavyArmy Community Credit Union.
- UTRGV won the first match up of the season, 3-2, back on Aug. 28, in Corpus Christi.
- The season standings are UTRGV 4.5 and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 1.5 after two events this year.
- The Islanders rallied and forced a fifth set in the last meeting but dropped the point and the match.

Rachel Young hit .406 with a career-high 17 kills that evening.

Jenna Lyons recorded her then-career high of 10 kills.
- Four Islanders finished in double figures in digs led by
Jenna Krenek (17),
Kaylee Payne (11),
Chloe Simon (10) and
Mackenzie Coates (10).
- Heading into the week, the Islanders rank sixth in the Southland Conference with 10.76 assists per set.
- Young currently ranks fourth in the conference with a .331 attack percentage. The freshman middle blocker has reached double-figures in kills in four of the last six matches and has hit over .400 three times in that stretch.
- Krenek is eighth in conference at 3.61 digs per set. She has been in double-figures in digs in four straight matches and five of her last six.

Madison Green recorded the conference's first triple-double of the year, notching 33 assists, 12 digs and 10 kills in a five-set loss to South Florida on Aug. 31 at LSU.
- The Islanders added two junior college transfers in
Eloise van Velthooven (Parkland College) and
Kayla Valigura (Blinn College).
- New assistant coach
Alexis Crimes was an alternate for Team USA at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. She played collegiately at Long Beach State.
- Green, Young, Simon and
Jenna Krenek each played for the beach volleyball team in the spring of 2018.
- This is the 19th season of Islander Volleyball. The program began back in 2000.
- The roster features 10 players from Texas. Other states/countries represented include Indiana, California, New York, New Zealand and Israel.
A&M-Corpus Christi will play in the Mizzou Invitational this weekend in Columbia, Mo. The Islanders will take on host Missouri (11 a.m.) and Drake (7 p.m.) on Friday, followed by a Saturday noon contest against Ohio University.
