BATON ROUGE, La. - The Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi volleyball team heads to Baton Rouge, La., to compete in the LSU Tournament this weekend at the Maravich Center. The Islanders face SEC member LSU, AAC member South Florida and ACC member Duke.

Rachel Young had a career-match against UTRGV. The redshirt freshman had a career-high 17 kills with four digs and two block assists. She hig .406 for the match on 32 swings.

Madison Green was selected to the Gamecock Invitational All-Tournament team for her performance. She hit .255 with 22 2.44 kils per set and averaged 2.22 digs per set while notching four service aces.
- Freshman
Jenna Lyons recorded her first double-digit kill performance of the season with 10 against UTRGV on Aug. 28. Lyons had nine the match before against East Tennessee St.
- Green, who came to the program as a setter, tallied a career-best 25 assists against UTRGV. She also picked up nine digs, seven kills and two blocks in the five-set match.

Chloe Simon recorded nine kills and set a career-high with 10 digs against UTRGV.
- The Islanders were picked third in the 2018 Southland Conference Preseason Poll and Green was selected to the Southland Preseason All-Conference First Team.
- Green was an honorable mention in 2017 as a sophomore.
- Young was granted a medical redshirt after being injured in the fourth-match of the 2017 season. She will be a freshman this year.
- The Islanders added two junior college transfers in
Eloise van Velthooven (Parkland College) and
Kayla Valigura (Blinn College).
- The roster features seven true freshmen.
- New assistant coach
Alexis Crimes was an alternate for Team USA at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. She played collegiately at Long Beach State.
- Green, Young, Simon and
Jenna Krenek each played for the beach volleyball team in the spring of 2018.
- This is the 19th season of Islander Volleyball. The program began back in 2000.
- The roster features 10 players from Texas. Other states/countries represented include Indiana, California, New York, New Zealand and Israel.
The next home matches are scheduled for Friday, Sept. 7, as part of a double header. Texas Southern visits the Dugan for an 11:30 a.m. match followed by a marquee matchup against the University of Miami at 5:30 p.m. Fans can find the entire 2018 promotional schedule
