Kellsey Sample joins Islander Golf

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi head golf coach Joni Stephens announced the addition of Kellsey Sample to the 2018-19 Islander roster. Sample played her freshman season at Colorado State University-Pueblo, and will have three years of eligibility remaining.

"I am very pleased to be adding Kellsey Sample to our 2018-2019 roster," said Stephens. "Kellsey already has the collegiate tournament experience and scores to complement the current talent on the team, along with the attitude and work ethic that is so essential to success on the course and in the classroom. She understands the vision we have for our program and she is willing and eager to do the necessary work to see that vision come to life. I am excited to welcome Kellsey as our newest Islander and I look forward to the positive contributions she will make to the university and the women's golf program."

During her freshman season at CSU Pueblo, Sample played in nine tournaments and recorded her season-low round of 73 at the RMAC Championship in Goodyear, Ariz. For the year, the Monument, Colo., native carried an 80.7 scoring average.

A former standout at Palmer Ridge High School, Sample placed sixth in the Colorado 4A State Championship as a senior. She led her team to a regional and conference title and was named first team All-State twice.
