SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi's track and field teams completed the third and final day of the NCAA Division I West Regional on Saturday at Hornet Stadium in Sacramento, Calif.
Zhafear Ray finished in 19th place in the high jump and
Allyson Girard placed 29th in the 5,000 meters.
Ray cleared the first height of 6-7 (2.01m) and got over the bar at 6-9 (2.06m) on his second attempt. Ray calmly cleared his third height at 6-11 (2.11m), tying his season best and just half an inch off his personal best.. He took three quality attempts at a school-record height of 7-1 (2.16m) but was unable to clear the bar.
Girard ran 16:18.57 to finish 29th overall and 15th in her heat. Her time was just over two seconds behind her personal best which also stands as the Islanders' school record.
On Friday,
Hannah McWilliams qualified for the NCAA National Championships and will compete in the pole vault on Thursday, June 7, in Eugene, Ore.
