CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Cheer and Dance teams will hold tryouts for the 2018-19 season over two sessions for each team.
The first session will be April 27 at 5 p.m. and April 28 at 8 a.m., while the second session will be May 4 at 5 p.m. and May 5 at 8 a.m. All tryouts will be conducted in the fieldhouse on the Island.
Participants must wear the following attire for the dance tryout: black, Kelly green, silver, or Royal Blue sports bra/half-top/or crop top. Black hot shorts, dance shoes, and hair down but fashioned out of your face. Feel free to stand out and be noticed. Your tryout attire should represent your personality. Callback numbers will be posted later in the day on the 28th. Interviews will be conducted after the tryout.
Attire will change between the two days for the cheer tryouts. On day one, females must wear plain black sports bra, black spandex, cheer shoes, natural make-up, hair all the way up with a black, white, Kelly green, or royal blue bow. Only Islander colors allowed. Males for day one shall wear a plain black t-shirt, black shorts, tennis shoes, and must be cleanly shaven or neatly trimmed.
On day two, females will be required to wear Islander colors sports bra, black spandex, cheer shoes and hair-up half-down curled with a white bow, while males will need to wear a plain Islander color shirt, black shorts and tennis shoes, with facial hair that is neatly trimmed or shaven.
Tryout participants for either team must fill out the medical release form, the team application, submit an acceptance letter or transcript, pay a $30 application fee and provide a head shot and body shot. All applicants must have been accepted to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in order to tryout.
Teams will be announced no later than May 8.
