Key Islander Sequences
- The second half couldn't have started any better for the Islanders who scored the first nine points to tie the game up, 39-39. Lewis started the run as he finished a fast break with a layup off a feed from Toney after a missed UTA three. After another Mav missed three, South connected from long range to pull the Islanders to within four, 39-35. Another defensive stop led to another Smith layup this time off a South assist. UTA would miss another three pointer and Lewis dropped in a game-tying layup.
- Trailing by one, 65-64 with just over 2:30 to play, Smith connected on a three pointer to give the Islanders a lead they would not concede.Smith hit a layup with under a minute to play to give A&M-Corpus Christi a four-point lead, 69-65. UTA would get as close as three, 70-67, but free throws from Toney and Smith sealed the win for the Islanders.
