Volleyball plays two matches in Louisiana

HAMMOND, La. - The Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi volleyball team gears up for the final four matches of the regular season starting on Thursday, Nov. 1, at Southeastern Louisiana at 7 p.m. After that, the team will head to Natchitoches, La., to take on Northwestern State on Saturday, Nov. 3, at 1 p.m.

-The Islanders opened the 2017 Southland schedule with a 3-0 sweep of the Lions in Hammond, La., back on Sept. 21.
- Texas A&M-Corpus Christi hit .216 for the match.
- Brittany Gilpin had 2 kills and Kristyn Nicholson added 32 assists.
- Madison Green added five digs, five kills and two blocks.
- The Lions beat Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 3-2, back on Sept. 25, 2014, in Hammond, La. That was the only win for Southeastern Louisiana in the 13-match series. The Islanders have won the past four times, each in a 3-0 sweep.
- Northwestern State beat the Islanders, 3-0, on Oct. 7, 2017, in the only meeting between the two programs last year.
- Prior to last year's defeat, A&M-Corpus Christi had won three-straight matches against the Lady Demons, dating back to the 2014 season.
- The Islanders have four more matches remaining this year. Those remaining opponents have a combined 15-33 Southland record this season.
- Green recorded the conference's first triple-double of the year, notching 33 assists, 12 digs and 10 kills in a five-set loss to South Florida on Aug. 31 at LSU. She got her second triple-double in a five-set match at home against Sam Houston State with 40 assists, 17 digs and 10 kills. Only Nicholls' Heidi Carpenter has two triple-doubles this season in the Southland.
- Green has been named to the Mizzou, South Carolina and Islander All-Invitational teams this season. Sam Dumity earned All-Islander Invitational accolades as well.
- This year's roster features three juniors, four sophomores, eight freshman and no seniors.
- Green is the only member of the team that has played for three seasons. She enters Thursday's match with 376 career kills, 823 assists and 528 digs. Her 618 assists this season is a single season-high. She has also surpassed her single-season best mark in service aces at 27. She has scored 450.0 career points as a member of the Islanders in 81 matches.

The Islanders will head to Northwestern State for a 1 p.m. match on Saturday, Nov. 3. After that, the team plays at Houston Baptist on Tuesday, Nov. 6 and closes out the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 10, at the University of the Incarnate Word.
