The Islander men will be traveling to Baylor while the women travel to College Station for the ITA Texas Regionals, the biggest college tournament in Texas. The winner of the Texas Regionals advances to the Oracle National Indoors at University of Illinois.
William Mottet and
Thomas Rodrigues Lopes have high hopes at the regionals as they recently won the Rice College Invite. The Islanders women will be sending four freshmen from a recruiting class ranked #12 nationally among mid-majors and senior captain
Marina Vicens Miquel. Vicens has been to the NCAA Championships twice in her amazing career as an Islander.
The Islanders have had strong success at the regionals with several quarter final appearances over the years. One of the team's top highlights took place in 2008 with Mike Pavlov and Andre Kumantsov winning the regionals and sending the Islanders to represent all Texas D-1 Universities at the National Indoors.
We are incredibly excited as these high character Islanders are working extremely hard and improving every day. If they keep choosing the team first, blue collar, discipline road we have extremely high hopes for this group!
