CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas -Â Texas A&M-Corpus Christi looks to make history this weekend, as the Islanders can break their all-time unbeaten streak with a positive decision at Prairie View A&M this Sunday at 1 p.m.
The Islanders are 3-0 when scoring a pair of goals this season, after opening Southland play with a victory for the first time in program history. The Blue and Green is looking for back-to-back for the fifth time in school history, last doing so against Incarnate Word and Northwestern State in October of the previous year. The team has already tied its longest unbeaten streak, with a record of 2-0-1 over the previous three contests, and sit just two wins short of tying a school record for a single season. Â
Starting goalkeeper
Abbie Flax became just the fourth keeper in Islander history to record a clean sheet on Friday, stopping all three of UIW's shots on net. Her team is one of three Southland teams to post 2-0 wins on the opening day of conference play, putting them in a tie for first place. They look onward to a PVAMU Panthers squad that has registered just a single goal on the season, while surrendering 18. Meanwhile, the Islanders have held opponents to a single goal or less in five of six competitions this year.

- Texas A&M-Corpus Christi is tied for its longest unbeaten streak in program history, having gone 2-0-1 over the previous three contests
- Corpus Christi registerd a pair of season-highs against UIW on Friday, with 11 shots and seven shots on goal
- Goalkeeper Abbie Flax posted her team's second clean sheet of the season with a three save performance
- Freshman Addison Urbanues recorded the first goal of her career against the Cardinals, while fellow first-year Emily Keoughan gathered her first assist of the year on the same goal
- Katie Lawrence moved into a team lead with her second goal of the year, scoring the Blue and Green's firsrst PK of the season
- Lawrence's game winnner against UIW is the second of her career and puts her in a tie with Brooke Erdmann for the second-most in program history. Her three shots on goal against the Cards are the most any Islander has recorded in a single match this season Â
- With its 2-0 victory against UIW, Corpus Christi is now 5-1-1 when scoring two goals over the past two seasons
- Although she's had just the one goal, Kaitlyn Joy has steered five of her seven shots in 2017 on frame (.714), better than any other Islander with multiple attempts on net Â
- Freshman defender Hannah Cupps had made four consecutive starts before the UIW match. The Islanders are averaging a 0.75 GAA when Cupps is in the starting 11
- The Islanders are off to their best start in program history (3-2-1) after going 1-0-1 against UTRGV and UTSA and beating UIW on the road
- The Blue and Green is 6-5-2 over its past 13 outings, and 5-4-2 when counting just regular season contests
- After her goal in the UTSA match, forward Brooke Erdmann now sits second in Islanders history with seven career goals and 16 career points
- The Islanders are 5-4-1 against teams from Texas dating back through October 2016, and 6-4-1 through their last 11 matches played in the lone star state
SCOUTING THE PANTHERS
- Without a win this season, the Panther have scored just a single goal, against UTRGV to open the season.
- Sophomore Paiton Maples was responsible for that only goal. Her four goals in 2016 tied for first on the team, with fellow freshman Blair Lane
- Maples and Lane are responsible for 17 of the Panthers' 37 attempts on frame this season (46%). They also make up six of 17 shots on goal this year (35%)
- Senior goalkeeper Clarissa Ledesma has recroded four starts for the Panthers this year, allowing an average of 3.55 goals per match
- PVAMU is currently on a seven-match losing streak, with its last victory coming on a 6-3 home decision with Jackson State last October
- Head Coach Abe Garcia is holding the reigns of the Panthers' program for a ninth straight season, bringing PVAMU to a single NCAA Tournament appearance in 2014
