CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Texas A&M-Corpus Christi volleyball returns to action Wednesday night as the Islanders round out their non-conference schedule with a rematch of the South Texas Showdown presented by NavyArmy Community Credit Union at 7 p.m. in Edinburg.
The Islanders took the first meeting of the season just over a week ago as the Blue and Green rallied from a first set defeat to take the match 3-1. Wednesday's game will mark the final contest before the Islanders open Southland Conference play on the road in Louisiana next week.
LOOKING BACK
In the previous matchup with UTRGV, the Islanders suffered from a sluggish start as the Vaqueros claimed the first set 25-14. After that, it was all Islanders as the Blue and Green used 14 aces and a dozen blocks to come from behind for the victory.

SOUTH TEXAS SHOWDOWN
After a draw in soccer on Sunday, Corpus Christi and UTRGV sit tied 3-3 in the South Texas Showdown presented by NavyArmy Community Credit Union. The series pits the Islanders and Vaqueros against one another in each shared sport, with points being awarded to the victor.
The Islanders claimed the inaugural season series in 2016-17.
MATCHING UP
Both teams enter Wednesday's meeting at 3-7 on the season after facing grueling non-conference slates. Both clubs have face three ranked teams apiece with the Islanders facing No. 1 Minnesota and No. 5 Texas last weekend.
In the previous meeting, Bojana Mitrovic led UTRGV with 18 kills while Ragni Steen Knudsen 12 more.
