HOUSTON – With a reshuffled lineup due to injury, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi fell to Houston Baptist in the finale of the HBU Beach Invitational Sunday afternoon.

The revamped pairing of
Madison Woods and
Morgan Carlson led the Islanders effort of the afternoon. The duo faced Victoria Hinojosa and Kayla Armer from HBU and battled for a pair of tough sets, but coulnd not find the crucial few points. The Islanders dropped the match 21-15, 21-19 in the two spot of the order.

Kelsee Felux and
Mallory Moran also pushed their Husky foes to the final point, but fell in straight sets. The Islanders dropped a hard-fought 21-19 opening set before HBU claimed the point with a 21-11 victory in the second.

At the fourth spot in the order,
Morgan Williams and
Kristyn Nicholson fell in a pair of 21-12 sets. Tiffany Thomas and Taylor Livoti earned the win for the Huskies.

With the reshuffled lineup,
Claire Karsten and
Naomi Overstreet teamed up in the fifth spot. They faced Danieele Wheeler and Madison O'Brien for the Huskies, falling in a 21-16, 21-10 match.

HBU wrapped up the sweep with a strong performance in the top spot as Jessica Wooten and Aeriel Horten earned a straight set win for the Huskies.

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi will return to action next weekend at LSU for the Battle on the Bayou. The Islanders will face Louisiana-Monroe, Texas A&M-Kingsville and LSU over the weekend. Â
