BATON ROUGE, La. – In the final day of the Battle on the Bayou, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi beach volleyball suffered a pair of losses to No. 7 LSU and Spring Hill.

The Islanders opened the day against the host Tigers of LSU, falling in a 5-0 sweep. One of the hottest teams in the country, the seventh-ranked Tigers put up a wall on their home courts.

At the top of the lineup,
Madison Green and
Madi Fitzsimmons dropped a 21-11, 21-14 decision to the Tigers' top pair. LSU would continue the momentum right down the order for the sweep.

At two,
Brittany Gilpin and
Morgan Carlson battled tough before falling 21-14 in a tough first set. The LSU pairing of Olivia Powers and Katie Lindelow would seize the momentum to earn a 21-9 win in the second set.

LSU rolled at the three spot, earning a 21-7, 21-8 victory as the No. 67 Tigers flexed their muscles.
Kelsee Felux and
Claire Karstens would also suffer a defeat at the four spot of the order, falling 21-8, 21-12 to their LSU foes.

The Tigers rounded out the morning sweep with a 21-6, 21-6 victory at the fifth spot in the order.

In the second match of the day, the Islanders were upended 4-1 by Spring Hill College in another tight contest.

The Islanders got their point from the fifth pairing in the lineup as
Haley Sobosle and
Morgan Williams rallied all the way back from a first set loss to earn the point. The Islanders fell 21-17 in the opening set before forcing the third with a strong 21-16 victory in the second. The third set went all the way to the wire and beyond, ending in a 19-17 Islander win in extras.

The four spot in the order also went three sets, with Felux and Karsten dropping a nail-biter of their own. The Islanders took the first set in extras by a 24-22 score but were knocked off 21-17 in the second set. The third set went back and forth before Spring Hill's pairing edged out a 15-12 win for the match.

The top three matches all went in straight sets, with the Islanders falling 21-16, 21-19 in the top spot. The second spot went to the Badgers by a 21-14, 21-18 score before Spring Hill wrapped the 4-1 win with a 21-16, 21-11 win at the third spot.

The Islanders now return to the Coastal Bend with a Wednesday matchup at Texas A&M-Kingsville before host TCU and Kingsville on Saturday. Â Â
