CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – For the second straight meet, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi track and field program set multiple records. On Saturday,
Chloe Young and
Ebony Collins broke program marks in the 100-meter hurdles and 200-meter dash, respectively, at the Roadrunner Invitational, hosted by UTSA. The Islanders finished seventh for the men and women.
Young bested her own program mark from last week at the Houston Spring Break Invitational. The San Antonio native shaved off .03 with her time of 14.22 on Saturday, crossing the line in fifth place.
Collins posted a pair of impressive performances for the Blue and Green. In the 100-meter dash, the San Antonio native finished third for the second consecutive meet. Collins followed that up by breaking her own record in the 200m from the 2015 NCAA Championship West Region Preliminaries. The senior sprinted to the line in 23.84.
Continuing to earn points, Corpus Christi excelled in the high jump for its fourth straight meet.
Sashane Hanson remained perfect during outdoor season. The Jamaican international cleared the 1.73-meter bar for 10 first-place points. Freshman
Zhafear Ray earned fourth-place honors in the men's competition, tying with two others at two meters.
The Islanders earned 13 points in the men's 800-meter run.
Will Maraggia recorded the fourth fastest time in program history as he took the top spot on the podium with a time of 1:51.70.
