CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - Texas A&M-Corpus Christi returns to Edinburg for a second time this season to compete in the UTRGVÂ Tournament. The Blue and Green will tally a pair of noon tipoffs for the first time this season, facing off with PVAMUÂ for the seventh time in program history and the Florida A&M Rattlers for the first time ever.

SERIES HISTORY
- The Islanders lead their series against PVAMU 5-1 all-time, beating the Panthers 88-37 in the two's most recent meeting (11/28/03)Â
- Florida A&M and Corpus Christi will meet for the first time, as the Blue and Green faces a MEAC opponent for the first time in its program's historyÂ
- The Islanders' record against the SWAC sits at 17-5 overallÂ
- This will be the first time Corpus Christi has played either PVAMU or Florida A&M during the Royce Chadwick eraÂ

- Brittany Mbamalu dropped 26 points in her last trip to Edinburg, recording her second 20-plus performance of the season against UTRGV
- Mbamalu buried eight three pointers against the Vaqueros, the most any Islander has had in a single game in program historyÂ
- The senior guard has dropped double digits in three of five contests this season, while her 65 points is fifth most in the Southland this yearÂ
- Dalesia Booth's five blocks against NMSU tie for the most recorded by an Islander since 2001. Her 11 rejections are the top mark in the conference and rank 20th in all of Division I women's basketballÂ
- Emma Young became the first Islander to record a double-double in the 2017-18 campaign, against McMurry. She joins Mbamalu as one of two active Islanders to record a double-double in their careerÂ
- With 12 boards against UTEP and NMSU combined, Young leads all Islanders with 37 reboundsÂ
- Seven players have already recorded double-digit performances in the Islanders' young season, with four players scoring 10-plus against TLU to open the yearÂ
- Dae Dae Evans tied her career-high with four helpers against NMSU, while scoring a season-high 13 points. Her 15 assists lead the Islanders overallÂ
- Uri Jolivette currently sits fourth on the Corpus Christi contingency with 19 rebounds, despite missing one-plus games due to injury
- Lajaneira Robinson hit the first three of her college career against UTEP last week and is a perfect two-for-two from the charity stripe this year
- The Islanders are averaging 15 2nd chance points per game in their two victories this seasonÂ
- The Blue and Green is scoring an average of 32 points off of turnovers in winning scenarios, but average less than 15 in their three losses on the yearÂ
HOW THEY MATCHUP
- Corpus Christi, PVAMU and Florida A&M will all enter this weekend coming off a loss, with the Panthers and Rattlers losing to Bethune-Cookman and Sacred Heart respectivelyÂ
- PVAMU is averaging nearly 90 points a game, but scored only 52 points in its first D-I challenge of the year against Bethune-CookmanÂ
- Florida A&M is yet to win a contest this year, losing by an average of 15 points per gameÂ
- For as many points as they've scored, the Panthers are averaging just five three-pointers per game, with nine of those 15 coming from starting guard Jordyn PennimanÂ
- Corpus Christi is hitting 64% from the free throw line in comparison to the Panthers' 56% and the Rattlers' 59%Â
- The Panthers have gone just one-for-nine from beyond the arc in their single contest against a Division-I opponent. Despite taking over 20 attempts in each of their games this season, Florida A&M has knocked down just 27 treys during the current campaign (22%)Â
- After setting a program record in blocks last year the Islanders are averaging 3.8 per game, short of the seven the Panthers are recording per contest, 11 of which came vs Arlington Baptist
- Florida A&M has a slight edge in the size department this weekend, with Rattlers' athletes averaging just under 5'11". PVAMU sits in second at just under 5'10", while Corpus Christi pulls up the rear at around 5'9"
- PVAMU, FAMU and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi are all averaging over eight steals per game this season, while the Islanders turn in a lower turnover average (15.8) than both the Panthers (17.7) and the Rattlers (17.4)Â
COMING UP NEXT
The Islanders will play host to the UTRGVÂ Vaqueros for the first time this year with a Wednesday night contest inside of Dugan Wellness Center. The Blue and Green lost its previous matchup against its rival in the first leg of the South Texas Showdown, presented by NavyArmy Federal Credit Union, by a score of 56-53. Corpus Christi came within a single shot of sending that game into overtime, missing a three-pointer on the final possession of the contest.
