SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi track & field teams concluded competition at the UTSA Invitational on Saturday, finishing with four top-five performances on the day.

On the women's side, Sashane Hanson led the way with a third place finish in the high jump, recording a mark of 1.67 meters.
Chloe Young took sixth in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 14.54 seconds, was eighth in the long jump at 5.31 meters, and was a member of the Islanders' sixth place 4x100 meter relay team that crossed the line in 47.48 seconds to place sixth.
For the men it was Will Maraggia with the top performance, placing third in the 800 meters with a time of 1:55.70.
Angelo Garland and David Carillo put forth a pair of top-five performances in the 400 meters, finishing fourth and fifth, respectively. Garland clocked in at 49.00 seconds, while Carillo recorded a time of 49.45 seconds.
On the first day of competition, Kaelin Simmons was the story, setting a new school record in the hammer throw, placing eighth in the discus, recording a new personal record in the javelin throw.
The Islanders will return to action next weekend at the Victor Lopez Classic. The meet will take place in Houston and will be hosted by Rice.
