Sherrie Tucker

Sherrie Tucker joined the Islander coaching staff in May of 2018.

Tucker began her coaching career at Longwood as an assistant coach in 2013 and was promoted to Associate Head Coach in 2017-18. While with the Lancers, Tucker had direct involvement in all aspects of the women's basketball program. Her main responsibilities included on court instruction in practice and game situations, on and off campus recruiting, scouting and film breakdown, individual player development and academic monitoring.

During the 2017-18 season, Tucker worked with Autumn Childress who earned All-Big South accolades. Childress had 12 double-doubles on the year and led the conference in rebounding. Tucker also helped work with Eboni Gilliam, who graduated as the team's leading scorer and rebounder in 2016-17, earning multiple weekly honors during her career. Gilliam went on to pursue a professional career, earning her club's most valuable player honor while in Spain in 2017-18.

As a student-athlete at Coppin State, Tucker put together one of the most impressive careers in Lady Eagle history. She was a two-time MEAC Player of the Year and earned two All-MEAC First Team selections. She is one of two players all time to have her jersey retired and is a member of the Coppin State University Athletics Hall of Fame. She finished her career with 1,389 points, the third most in program history. She helped lead the Lady Eagles to two MEAC regular season titles, two MEAC tournament titles and appeared in the 2005 and 2006 NCAA Tournament. She earned her degree from Coppin State in 2006 in Criminal Justice.

She played two seasons for the Etzella Basketball Club in Luxembourg following graduation before returning to the states.
